DCSO arrested Mark G Torjesen (42) of Spirit Lake on 10-10-2011. A Sheriff’s Deputy was southbound and saw a go cart that was stolen from the Amusement Park driven northbound on Hwy 71 near the Amusement Park. The Deputy attempted to stop the go-cart. The driver, Mark Torjesen, failed to stop and continued north through the city of Arnolds Park down streets, parking lots and back yards. The pursuit ended in the 70 block of Hinshaw Street where Torjesen crashed the go-cart into a parked vehicle and then a house. Torjesen was arrested after a short foot pursuit and booked into the Dickinson County Jail where he is being held on $19,000 bond. Torjesen is also being held on an arrest warrant out of Florida. An estimated $800 damage was caused to the Go-cart and $250 to the vehicle.
DCSO charged Torjesen with:
- OWI #1
- Operating a non-registered vehicle
- Failure to use headlamps
- Failure to have a Valid Driver’s license
Arnolds Park Police charged Torjesen with:
- Burglary 3rd degree
- Theft 1st degree
- Possession of Burglar’s tools
- Interference with official acts
