At 1:53pm on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, the Dickinson County Communications Center took a call of an airplane flying low, then the caller heard what they believed to be a crash. Units from several agencies searched an area southwest of Milford for any downed aircraft. Another call was received at approximately 2:45pm from an individual who believed they had located the downed aircraft. Authorities arrived to find a single occupant who was deceased. No names will be released until late Thursday pending notification of relatives.
The FAA was contacted and will begin an on-site investigation Thursday.
Assisting the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office was Dickinson County Emergency Management, Milford Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
