On June 26th, 2014 at around 12:06am a deputy responded to a vehicle in the ditch near the intersection of Highway 86 and 180th Street. When the deputy arrived on scene the vehicle was unoccupied. The vehicle was registered to a Shane Hessenius (23) of Milford, IA. The deputy could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed and a subsequent inventory of the vehicle was performed.
When the deputy got to the trunk area he noticed a green leafy substance, to wit; marijuana, spread out all over. Also in the trunk were several plastic baggies.
Warrants were issued for Hessenius for:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver (Class D Felony)
- Failure to Maintain Control
Hessenius was later picked up on the warrants and posted a $5,300 bond.
All persons are innocent until proven guilty.
