Stolen Heavy Equipment Recovered 11-10-17

On November 10th, 2017, the DCSO took a report of a stolen 2017 Bobcat E35i Excavator.  It belonged to Iowa Lakes Rural Water.  The deputy was able to find where the excavator was located since GPS was installed on it.  The GPS was showing that the excavator was located in the 1200 block of Highway 71, in a field on the east side of the highway.  Upon further investigation, it was determined that a 2007 Caterpillar 236B Skid Loader, and a 2014 Aluma Tilt Trailer were located at the same property.  The skid loader was reported stolen on October 25th, 2017 from Beck Excavating Inc.

A search warrant was issued for the property where the heavy equipment was located.  The skid loader had been painted a different color to conceal its identity.  The excavator, skid loader, and trailer were all seized from the property.  As a result of the search warrant, arrest warrants were issued for Samuel Stoller (26) of Okoboji.

On November 13th, 2017, Stoller was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrants.  Stoller’s 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 was also seized as part of the investigation.

Stoller was able to post bond, which was set at $21,300.  Gamboa was released on his own recognizance.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
