The Dickinson County
Communications Center handles all 911 and non-emergency calls for
Dickinson County. The center is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a
week and dispatches for all law enforcement agencies, fire departments
and ambulances in Dickinson County. The communications center employs
four full-time and three part-time dispatchers.
As a part of the new
courthouse project, the communications center underwent a massive
upgrade including an all new radio system and new computer servers for
handling and dispatching 911 calls. Also included is new workstation
furniture that raises and lowers to allow the dispatcher to work in
either a standing or sitting position. The center expanded from a one
and one-half position center, occupying about 178 square feet; to two
and one-half positions in an area that is approximately 770 square
feet.
