Deputy Gude has worked for the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office since 1995. Prior to working for Dickinson County, Deputy Gude was a patrolman for the Iowa Falls and Storm Lake Police Departments. Prior to his law enforcement career, Deputy Gude spent eight years with the United States Navy, serving as an air traffic controller.While at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 1989, Deputy Gude was elected President of the 113th basic class, presented the McCartney Award for "most conscientious performance," a member of the 300-point club and still holds a record for physical performance. During his time with the Iowa Falls and Storm Lake Police Departments, then patrolman Gude received a total of four commendations for service above and beyond the call of duty.
Deputy Gude has been a certified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) since 1999 and is also qualified to handle clandestine drug manufacturing laboratories.
